Disabled passengers are defined as those who may require special assistance during their flight or while boarding or debarking due to a physical or mental condition. In most cases a medical certificate is required documenting the passenger's fitness for air travel and releasing the airline from liability with regard to the passenger's health.

TACA reserves the right to refuse to board any passenger who for any reason might endanger the safety of other passengers or their belongings or the safety of the crew or aircraft.

Wheelchairs:

  • We accept all kinds of wheelchairs.
  • For security reasons any wet batteries must be disconnected and the terminals protected with insulating tape.
  • Passengers who depend on and travel with their own wheelchair may check it in addition to their regular baggage allowance at no extra cost.
  • We lend wheelchairs free of charge to passengers who need them; the service may be requested when making reservations, picking up tickets, or at check-in.

Note:
Passengers who wish to check an extra wheelchair (in addition to their own, without necessarily being for their own use) may do so as part of their baggage allowance, subject to space availability and excess piece (but not overweight/oversize) baggage charges.
