Musical instruments may be checked, carried as carry-on baggage, or occupy a seat. One musical instrument per passenger is permitted (guitar, violin, trumpet, etc.)

Musical instruments as carry-on baggage:

  • One permitted per passenger
  • Maximum weight: 22 lbs./10 kg
  • Maximum measurements: 45 linear inches/114.3 cm. (length + height + width)

Musical instruments occupying seats:

  • One permitted per passenger with paid extra seat
    • Cost: Adult fare in the same cabin as the passenger (includes the right to check 2 extra pieces of baggage)
  • Maximum weight: 165.3 lbs./75 kg
  • Maximum height: 80 inches/203.2 cm. (length + height + width)
  • Must be securely fastened to the seat using the seat belt (or otherwise transported as checked baggage)

Musical instruments as checked baggage:

  • Musical instruments may be checked, in accordance with weight and size restrictions (see baggage policies), as one of the pieces* permitted in your baggage allowance.
  • One instrument is permitted per passenger; packed appropriately to protect it under normal handling conditions.
  • You may also check an instrument as excess baggage (in addition to your free baggage allowance):

IMPORTANT: If you have excess baggage (extra piece or oversize/overweight piece), but still choose to check your musical instrument as part of your regular baggage allowance, the instrument will also be subject to overweight/oversized baggage charges.

  • Maximum size with charge of $100:
    • 85 linear inches / 216 cm. (length + height + width)
    • 100 lbs. / 45 kg.

*2 pieces in economy class and 3 pieces in Clase Ejecutiva
